So what's up with all the 3-D??

So has anyone noticed the increasing amount of movies coming out in 3D lately? I mean it seems like every series ends with a 3D movie. Take the Saw movies for example, Saw 3D is coming out and so is Jackass 3D.. both coming this month! There's also so many cartoon movies coming out in 3D. Despicable Me, Shrek 3D and many more. Many of the movies seem to instead of coming out with just their 3rd movie.. it also has to be 3D..  like Step Up 3-D.. and Toy Story 3-D.. In 2010 over 20 movies have either come out in 3D or have yet to come, the highest number of 3D movies per year! Only a decade ago 3D movies were out but very rare, not a few a month like now.. and the number has slowly increased every year but made a drastic increase in the past two years alone. Its crazy how everything seems to slowly be changing, cartoons, horror movies, everything is coming out in 3D. Even TV's are being made in 3D.. the progression of technology in entertainment is astounding and rapidly changing within our own lifetime! Lemme know what you think about the amount of 3D movies coming out this year!! Comment some favorites or some of the worst 3D movies you have seen !! thankkss!! =]

I agree with you... Our society has a lot of time on its hands to make repeats of movies that weren't even good from the first place... It is most definitely a smart way of making more money but also a stupid way in making the audience watch the same thing but in 3D...

So true! I never really thought we'd be watching TV at home with 3D glasses. Avatar looked cool in 3D, but that's the only 3D movie I've seen.

I kind of hate 3D movies, it distracts me from the plot, but yeah there are a lot more out there than before.

haha to be honest.. i watched Avatar in a cheap movie theater and so the 3D effect wasn't too great and it distracted me from the plot too.. but about throughout the movie i kept taking off my glasses.. it was kinda weird without them.. but manageable..

3D movies in the theater are not bad, at least for movies like Avatar where the only point was to amaze you with the visuals. However in terms of 3D TV, i think its totally useless. This is because all of these TVs need the viewers to wear 3D glasses. Not only are these 3d glasses a hassle, they are also extremely expensive. sometimes, additional 3d glasses can cost hundreds of dollars. Considering that most 3d tvs only come with 1~2 3d glasses, it is a must for any family to get extra 3d glasses. This situation is made worse if you think about guests, If you dont have 3d glasses for everyone who is watching, then the 3d cannot be used because a "3d" image shown on the TV seen without 3d glasses looks disgusting. I dont think 3D tvs will ever TRULY become mainstream until they can figure out how to display 3D without 3d glasses across a wide angle of vision (unlike the Nintendo 3DS where you have to look from an exact angle to see the picture correctly.)

mmm.. thank you for your input sakib! haha you do have a point actually in what you say about 3D tv.. it is a hassle and the tv itself is extremely expensive let alone a pair of glasses for everyone.. however.. i disagree i think that if there was a 3D movie at home or like my brother is into soccer.. watching a game or something in 3D would be pretty interesting!

Yah, I definitely agree. I feel that when you go watch a 3D movie you're not going there for the story but just for the effects. It takes away from the plot of the movie, but I'm sure they've acknowledged that fact as most 3D movies have funny spoofs that heighten the effects even more. Still, they're making a ridiculous amount of money off us going to watch.
